The identification of potentials for the optimization of business and service processes in companies and public authorities is an important management task. The prerequisites for this are appropriate inventories on the development of process models. Which tools are necessary and useful for this?

Answer is given by this template. It consists of 3 parts, which simplify the use of the standard software Visio from the version Visio 2000:

• A process symbol file with the 20 symbols essential for meaningful process models!
• A Visio data file with drawing sheets for the 3 modeling levels process overview, sub-process overview in one data sheet and sub-process flow diagram. An exemplary modeling for the sub-process " offer processing in purchasing" demonstrates the handling.
• An Excel file with the data read from the process model - overview of the effort (duration, costs) of the process and its steps to identify unproductive transport and wait times.

A detailed working instruction is attached.

Using this template simplifies the modelling process. The training effort is comparatively low. Acceptance, transparency and comprehensibility of the process models worked out with it grow - good for process optimization.
